I love snow!!! It’s so much prettier and easier to tolerate than rain. I remember playing with Tuvok last December when we had all that snow. What else would I do with an Alaskan Malamute. Though it’s cold outside, I also enjoy drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows by the fire.
During this time of year we think about the people and things we are thankful for. Though sometimes things get hard for all of us, we can try to remember daily, those individuals and things that bring us happiness. It is also a time when we might think about those we’ve lost, but it’s important to try and remember all the good times we had with them. What are you thankful for?
The 5th grade skating party was a great success. I enjoyed watching so many students skate and socialize with their 5th grade peers in such a positive way! Oh, and I really enjoyed skating too. Click on the white arrow in the blue box to hear one of my favorite skating songs. (Stop the song by clicking on the arrow again.) Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll
Movies are entertaining in many ways. They can take you to different places, make you laugh, teach you things, etc. Some of my favorite movies of all time are the original Star Wars movies. The movies, though they take place in outer space and on different planets, are like old Westerns. I like the fact that the lead female character, Princess Leia, is very strong in character. My favorite character though is Yoda, because he is wise and has the ability to “Use the Force”.
My favorite novel is “The Stand” by Stephen King. It is a story about a mysterious virus that affects some people in the world in a bad way and while other people are not affected at all. It is my favorite novel because its storyline is very believable, especially with the worries that H1N1 has brought us.
Friday the four fifth grade classes mixed it up with different activities in each of our classrooms. Students made and filled goodie bags, assembled and learn about the Human skeleton, played BINGO and made a spooky hand, and danced! It was a fun time had by all! Can’t wait until we go rollerskating this month!
Today we escorted our Kindergarten Reading Buddies to the Albertson’s Store to learn about nutritious eating and to pick up pumpkins for decorating. Though it was raining during the walk, everyone seemed to have a good time!
Thursday, October 22nd, we visited the Apple Store at Southcenter. During the visit students were taught Keynote to work on Native American presentations and given the opportunity to work on slick iMacs with 27″ screens. I’m happy that the staff at the Apple store were able to give the students such an awesome experience! Thank you Mallory, Alli, Andrew, Matthew & Paul!
